The game is being played

The other factions of the legion are nothing but knockoffs. But either way, my portion is the lead portion. Eggman is the only thing between me and complete control.

Don’t you start to lecture me, you have no idea what you’re talking about. You have no right to bring up an attempt to ‘take’ Angel Island, when the overlanders worked with the legion in an attempt to do just that themselves.

And that’s exactly my point as well, you know who started that war: the Overland trying to conquer an otherwise peaceful kingdom.

And none of the other Grandmasters pose any threat to you? Isn’t one of them a technomage?

Then enlighten me; why was it such an impossible thing to move elsewhere? Why was being right so all-important that you had to go back and attack Echidnapolis over and over again? And your comparison sucks; one attempt by a renegade faction of Overlanders does not even begin to compare to the repeated, failed attempts by the Dark Legion to retake Angel Island.

That ‘peaceful kingdom’ fired the first salvos that kicked off the war. When it became clear how out of their depth they were, President Charlemagne managed to twist the conflict into a war of conquest. The whole thing was shameful, even without taking into account what would come next. The difference here is that, for some reason, you seem very content to lay the entirety of what’s gone wrong for your people on the feet of the Guardians, and by that extent everyone else who didn’t want to be a part of the Legion’s lifestyle.

Seriously, how long have you been at this? Don’t you ever just get sick of it?

My point is that I’m currently above them, but there’s always the chance of someone foolishly trying to claim power.

And one attempt? Don’t make me laugh. The entire history of your species is based on attempt after attempt to own everything you come across, even if it means betraying your own kind. At least we have loyalty. Which is why it isn’t about being ‘right’, it’s about reform — uniting our people to their former glory.

But the answer is no, I don’t get ‘sick’ of it. Yes, it has been a frustrating mess, I won’t deny that, but I don’t intend to stop until I’ve accomplished my goals.

"As if listening to a bunch of halfwits is any better. But I did ask you to surprise me…" She strolled on in after he opened the door, pausing momentarily to look the area over critically. She couldn’t say she’d actually been in a place like this before.

The pub wasn’t too bad, it was decked out in modern furniture, the usual neon signs hung against the walls, the occupants keeping the noise level at a steady loud volume.

Shadow plopped himself at his normal spot at the bar and slapped the open stool next to him, “Have a seat,” turning to the bartended he made his request of a shot of whisky with a glass of water. “Keep her charges under my tab too.”

She wasn’t particularly impressed but it could have been worse. This was about making connections more than anything. Though she couldn’t help but realize Shadow’s point about the streets being clear was irrelevant at this point especially upon seeing a few people do double-takes at her.

She sat down in the seat next to the hedgehog, crossing her arms. “Wine will be fine.”

She simply shook her head at the not so surprising answer, before giving him an odd look. “Karaoke? Oh gag me.” She rolled her eyes.

Shadow chuckled to himself at her reaction, “Oh that doesn’t mean you have to sing. Besides, it’s rather entertaining to see those who can’t sing make an attempt at it.” Shadow pushed the door to the pub open, “Ladies first.”

As a matter of fact, I already have control over the legion. My goals are more focused on the echidnas as a whole.

But you should remember who you’re talking to. I wouldn’t expect you to understand the reasons for any of those things. The Guardians were fools who refused to look towards the future, we were standing against that oppression. Though it’s interesting that you bring up the isolation of Angel Island, when that was exactly what Dimitri was attempting to correct.

I won’t attempt to explain all this to you, although if we did have such a discussion the Great War would surely come to mind.

Last I checked, the ‘Legion’ at this point was the vast horde of cybernetic goons that answered to the Eggman. Technically, you control the Echidna *portion* of the greater whole. Its *Robotnik* who commands the entirety of the legion.

Really now, it was that simple? The Guardians and by that extent the entirety of Echidnapolis was wrong, and you were right, and as such that justified the various failed attempts to take Angel Island as your own and induct the rest of echidna kind into your cult? You *seriously* couldn’t have just re-settled elsewhere on the planet and just told the others to bugger off, at any point?

Heh, cute; but sadly, your comparison is more apt than you think. In the end the Great War boiled down to a clash of egos, leaders willing to send their own people to the meat grinder to satisfy their own pride, and in doing so nearly doomed *all* of us.

The other factions of the legion are nothing but knockoffs. But either way, my portion is the lead portion. Eggman is the only thing between me and complete control.

"I could ask you the same thing."

"Jewel? I’m not sure why you’d think I’d help you, but you’re going to have to be more specific."

Well, I’d rather not explain more because something might happen and besides, who knows what’ll happen along the way.

She raised an eyebrow, not appearing particularly amused. “I don’t know how on Mobius you would expect me to know where something is when you won’t even tell me what it is.”

"Simply put, the Dark Legion started as a group of echidnas who opposed the ban on technology. The ‘egg’ part was added by a certain benefactor."

Ban on technology? Something that stupid would have given him a headache before he was like this.

"Let me guess, a bald man with a mustache right? I’ve heard what he’s like in other Zones. I’m guessing he’s the one that gave you those cybernetics."

"That’s correct." She gave a nod. It seemed the doctor was known most everywhere. "Though he wasn’t the one who originally gave them to us, he just restored them." And added some to her after she got blown up…

She seemed to be amused by his rambling, just soaking it all in. But she had to laugh at his rather excited mention of the pub.

"I wouldn’t know. Why don’t you just surprise me~?"

It’d be no surprise where he’d choose for them to go, seeing as he extended an arm and pointed his finger in the pub’s direction, “Pub it is then. It might even happen to be karaoke night though.”

She simply shook her head at the not so surprising answer, before giving him an odd look. “Karaoke? Oh gag me.” She rolled her eyes.

She smirked. “Ah, Doctor. It’s always a pleasure to see any version of you. I’m doing just fine~”

"Tut tut, Lien-Da. Is that sarcasm I hear in your tone? Pity, but I’ll let it slide. So tell me. How goes things in your own little Mobius?"

"Sarcasm? Oh, of course not~" She grinned. "It’s been chaotic as ever, though a step in the right direction, at least. But what about yours? Any success to speak of?"

"My this is a surprise. Not my Lien-Da, but nonetheless how are you my dear?" Eggman grinned evilly.
